The Damien Museum is a municipal museum where resources are managed and spent at municipal level and museum staff are municipal employees. The Damien Museum is included in the municipal organisational chart and in the municipal multi-year plan. The Damien Museum resides as a municipal service under the Leisure Service, Tourism and Heritage Department.
Municipal Council and Board of Mayor and Aldermen determine the museum policy and the museum budget, prepared and elaborated by the museum staff and the Museum Council. The management and operation of the Damien Museum as a municipal museum is in the hands of the autonomous municipal company (AGB) of the municipality of Tremelo, which is for-profit. The board of directors and the management committee of AGB Tremelo are formed by the Municipal Council and the College of Mayor and Aldermen respectively.
A Museum Council, as a municipal advisory council, unites all stakeholders and interested parties and advises decision-makers on substantive museum policy.
The museum staff is responsible for day-to-day museum operations and for preparing and outlining the municipal Damien Museum's content policy.
A group of enthusiastic and motivated volunteers, led and framed by the museum staff, assists in the daily operation of the Damien Museum. This group of volunteers includes front desk staff, guides, educational guides and heritage staff.
